Board & Executive Team

Our Board’s mission is to represent and serve the interests of unitholders by overseeing and appraising Region Group’s strategies, policies, and performance.

The Board’s principal objective is to maintain and increase security holder value while ensuring Region’s overall activities are properly managed.

Our Board

Region’s Board is chaired by Steven Crane and comprises a team of professionals with deep expertise across business, accounting, financial management, operations and legal.

Steven Crane

Chair of the Board and Independent Non-Executive Director

Steven has over 40 years of financial market experience having previously been Chief Executive Officer of ABN AMRO Australia and BZW Australia.

Some of Steven’s previous roles include Chair and Non-Executive Director of nib holdings limited, Chair of Taronga Conservation Society Australia, Director of Bank of Queensland and Director of Transfield Services. He was also the Chair of Investa Property Group and a Director of Adelaide Bank Limited. Steven was a Director of Foodland Associated, Chair of Adelaide Managed Funds, Director of APA Ethane and Chair of the Investment Banking and Securities Association. Steven was a Trustee of Australian Reward Investment Alliance, Deputy Chair of Australian Chamber Orchestra and Director of Sunnyfield Association.

Belinda Robson

Independent Non-Executive Director

Belinda is an experienced real estate executive and people leader, having previously worked with Lendlease Group for nearly 30 years in a range of roles including as Fund Manager of Australian Prime Property Fund Retail.

Belinda’s previous roles with Lendlease included Head of Operations, Australian Prime Fund Series, and Portfolio Manager, Australian Prime Property Fund Retail.

Beth Laughton

Independent Non-Executive Director

A former Investment Banker with 25 years’ experience in Corporate Finance advising companies on mergers and acquisitions, valuations and arranging equity capital across a range of industries (industrial and resources). For 12 years her primary focus was on information technology, telecommunications, digital media, business process outsourcing and specialty retail sectors. 

Beth held senior executive positions at Ord Minnett Corporate Finance Limited (now JP Morgan), HSBC Securities (Australia) Pty Limited, TMT Partners Pty Limited and Wilson HTM Corporate Finance Limited. Prior to this she qualified as a Chartered Accountant whilst at KPMG for 5 years.

Angus James

Independent Non-Executive Director

Angus has over 30 years finance experience and is currently CEO of Aquasia, an independent corporate advisory and fund management business based in Sydney. Before establishing Aquasia in 2009, Angus was the Chief Executive of ABN AMRO Australia and New Zealand and a member of its Asian management team which oversaw all of ABN AMRO's retail, wholesale, investment banking and asset management businesses in 17 countries throughout Asia Pacific.

Angus was also previously a Director of the Business Council of Australia, the Australian Financial Markets Association and the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority and Deputy Chairman of the Australian Chamber Orchestra.

Michael Herring

Independent Non-Executive Director

Michael’s executive experience includes over 30 years in the legal and finance services industries.

Michael was most recently the General Counsel of Macquarie Group and formerly the Head of Financial Institutions Group at Macquarie Capital.

Prior to joining Macquarie Group, Michael was a managing partner of Mallesons Stephen Jaques.

Antoinette (Toni) Milis

Independent Non-Executive Director

Toni is an experienced property industry executive having worked with Lendlease Group for more than 30 years across a broad range of businesses and responsibilities including residential and mixed-use development, funding, property and facilities management, construction and infrastructure and design and project management. Most recently as Executive – Build to Rent and Affordable Housing in Australia, she led the development of these alternative real estate classes. In a previous role as Head of Lendlease Communities Australia, Toni was responsible for the development of over 25 large scale master planned communities, which included the critical delivery of Neighbourhood and Town Centres to provide a range of retail, business, entertainment, and community uses.

Anthony Mellowes

Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer

Anthony is an experienced property executive. Prior to joining Region (formerly SCA Property Group), Anthony worked at Woolworths Limited from 2002 to 2012 and held a number of senior property related roles including Head of Asset Management and Group Property Operations Manager. Prior to Woolworths Limited, Anthony worked for Lendlease Group and Westfield Limited.

Anthony was appointed Chief Executive Officer on 16 May 2013 after previously acting as interim Chief Executive Officer. Anthony was a key member of the Woolworths Limited team which created SCA Property Group (now Region RE Limited).

Anthony has been a Director of the Shopping Centre Council of Australia since 2014 and he was appointed as the Chairman in August 2022, he has also been a Director of the Property Council of Australia since 2022.

Our Executive Team

Region’s Executive team is led by Anthony Mellowes as Chief Executive Officer, who was instrumental in the founding of RGN (formerly SCP), drawing on his extensive experience across the property and supermarket industry.

Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer

Anthony is an experienced property executive. Prior to joining Region (formerly SCA Property Group), Anthony worked at Woolworths Limited from 2002 to 2012 and held a number of senior property related roles including Head of Asset Management and Group Property Operations Manager. Evan Walsh

Chief Financial Officer

Evan is responsible for the finance functions, including financial operations and performance, planning and analysis, capital management, treasury, taxation and investor relations, as well as technology.

Prior to joining Region in 2021, Evan held a number of senior finance roles at Charter Hall and AMP Capital. Evan is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Master of Professional Accounting, a Bachelor of Business (Finance/Funds Management) and a Bachelor of Applied Science (Mathematics).

Erica Rees

General Counsel and Company Secretary

Erica is an experienced funds and property lawyer with over 15 years' experience in legal practice including property transactions, property developments, leasing, funds management, corporate and debt. Erica joined Region (formerly SCA Property Group) in late 2012 and was previously a Senior Associate in a national law firm.

Helen Voss

Head of Human Resources

Helen has over 15 years' experience in HR across a number of industries. Her recent role was Senior HR Business for Edgewell - a consumer goods company. Prior to that, Helen had HR lead roles in professional services and engineering sectors.

Helen specialises in culture and change management, leadership development, communication and engagement, as well as strategic HR business partnering.

Helen joined Region (formerly SCA Property Group) in June 2021 as Head of Human Resources and is a Member of Certified Practitioners HR (CPHR) with the Australian HR Institute (AHRI).
