New plans unveiled for Greenbank Shopping Centre

Greenbank Shopping Centre - 251 Teviot Rd

Greenbank Shopping Centre is located within the Greater Flagstone Priority Development Area, approximately 29km south of Brisbane, a location set to house a population of around 138,000 people.

The centre’s main trade area is already exceeding growth expectations and is forecast to experience a population explosion over the next 10 years. The expansion of Greenbank Shopping Centre will support the fast-growing population, while creating additional employment opportunities for the region.

Centre Overview

Greenbank Shopping Centre is a single-level 3,970 square meter neighbourhood centre, currently anchored by a Woolworths supermarket as well as a Woolworths Plus Petrol and 17 Specialty stores. The centre is conveniently located between the Covella and Everleigh communities and situated in an ideal location next to exciting future develop- ments including a new library and community facility, health hub, new school and train station.

Project Summary

Region Group, owner of Greenbank Shopping Centre, has refined its redevelopment plans to deliver a true Town Centre for Greenbank – a central community destination offering convenience, lifestyle and connection.

The proposed expansion will be anchored by a new Discount Department Store with:

  • A greater mix of specialty retailers
  • Expanded food and beverage offerings
  • Integrated customer service features including direct-to-boot and parcel pick-up
  • Community-focused spaces such as playgrounds, greenspaces and landscaped rest areas

The expansion will utilise the vacant land to the west of the existing centre along Pub Lane.

Upgrades to the existing centre are also planned with:

  • A refurbished Woolworths
  • Façade improvements
  • Refreshed landscaping
  • Enhancements to parking and amenities

This will meet growing food, and grocery needs and improve choice and convenience for Greenbank locals. A total of 14,022 additional square metres of shopping space will be offered to community at the completion of construction.

The revised design has been guided by community feedback and incorporates best practice sustainability initiatives including solar panels, electric vehicle charging bays, stormwater reuse and bio-retention systems.

Proposed Masterplan

Past Planning

Since the original approval of the expansion, the project team has been working with local, state and national authorities behind the scenes to upgrade essential infrastructure and to progress planning and design for the redevelopment.

Community consultation in late 2023 received overwhelming support for upgrading the current Centre and delivering a new vibrant Town Centre.

While community consultation was well received, shifting market conditions delayed the project’s progress. However, this has allowed for further refinement and improvement of the planning and design.

Region Group has reviewed and reconfigured the Centre’s offering to align with the market conditions which has resulted in a revised masterplan.
